Waxing wheels (with NXT!)
I'd never been one to do this, but after spending a few hours cleaning out the grime and caked brake dust from the front two wheels, I decided to throw on a quick layer of NXT on the rims using a cheapo cotton towel, just to see. Two weeks later, a quick going-over with a high pressure spray removed all of the MY04 megadirty brake pad residue (and I mean pretty much all of it) from the rims with minimal effort. To say that I'm impressed is an understatement
I completely recommend throwing on a light coat of some durable wax onto the wheels - well worth it.

yup- any wax/ synthetic protection on the wheels goes a long way to keeping them new just like the paint!
and evey once in awhile, you just gotta put the car up on jack stands and remove the wheels and detail each one to make them brand new again!! (you wont believe how dirty the insides are if you havent done this before- and once clean how you actually can see inside the wheels when they are on the car)...

I did this today. I used NXT on my wheels.
On my Accord I used to Zaino my SSR's.
If you think about it, your wheels are painted just like your car. So waxing it can only help. It'll make getting that brake dust and grit off a lot easier next time you wash

I have tried the NXT spray on wax on the wheels. Gold Class wax before that. Its a great trick to help with keeping the wheels clean but they also say PAM cooking spray does the trick very well too.
Dupont has come out with a line of car care products that all include Teflon in them. I picked up some of their new wheel cleaner (safe for all wheels) and it seems to really work. The theory is that the Teflon will leave a coating that brake dust and rust flung off the disc will not stick to. I would recommend it based on the other wheel cleaners that I have used in the past.
I first applied it before last weekends "Wake the Dragon Run" and it really seems to work. Needless to say on the "Dragon" I was using my brakes.

I need to try waxing my wheels, I have black wheels so it doesn't show up as bad, and I tend to let it slip and not really clean the wheels, and they become dull looking. I'm going to wax my wheels this week.
