Default What to tape

Using a PC 7424XP, just my thinking...

Things to tape:
windshield squirters
all emblems
bumper seams
taillights/headlights
All rubber trim

Things not to tape:
Door jams
Trunk jams
hood/fender seams

Any additions, deletions, or corrections?

I pull the windshield squirters off. It take's maybe 10 seconds.

I also tape off or remove the rear trunk light.

I am not sure what you mean by taping off the bumper seams though.

When I'm correcting an s2000 I tape off everything you posted and also get newspaper and cover the sides and back of the soft top just so no splatter hits the vinyl. I don't know if this counts as "taping off" but I figured I'd add it in.

good suggestion.

@Feezy, where the fenders meets the bumpers, it hard to get a towel or qtip in between that seam.

Just get everything out with a qtip while it's still fresh I've never taped that area off, just swipe with qtips after you're done

This is what I do -

Make sure you know which one goes on which side - one is marked with a green dot and the other with a blue dot.

I agree with the guys above, you shouldn't need to do that. Just clean it up right after you're done with the detail. I wait till the end and I have a set of brushes that I use for that specific purpose.

Don't bother taping the windshield squirters you will not have any issues with them and using a Porter cable. Maybe just a bit of cleaning out that;s it.

On an S you only need to tape the trim around the passenger cabin, antenna base, S2000 side emblems, and throw a blanket or newspaper over the top to avoid splatters.

You can polish over the "H" emblems helps clean them up, and also the head and tail lights too. Helps immensely in brightening them up.

I still have wax in them from when I bought the car What can I use to get in there w/o worrying about damaging the paint?

wax in the sprayers? Take them off and soak them in dish soap and water for a bit then scrub them with a toothbrush. If the nozzle is clogged you might have to use a needle to break the clumps of wax. I had to do this on mine.
