idk what gen and what gen your GT-R is but i know some have that self curing paint, and maybe its the paint reacting to something? maybe while it was curing moisture got trapped? i know it has to bake in the sunlight in order for that to work. try Iron x or Iron out, see if it'll decontaminate it and pull that out somehow

My GT-R is first gen, CBA is 09-11. The car doesn't have self healing paint.

I figured it out, it was moisture trapped between the paint and clear. A bit of heat and rubbing alcohol evaporates it out.

I'm curious how that would be possible? Not denying it isn't true, since as you say, it has been a problem with other Nissans, so that pretty much rules out my first guess that it was a weird wax sweating-out effect or water spots. But I've never heard of this sort of thing before. The clearcoat is supposed to be a barrier, isn't it? Nothing's supposed to penetrate down to the level of the colour coat, and if it does, it's permanent (read: repaint time). Now, if the car was single-stage (which it obviously isn't lol), I'd be more willing to believe this could happen. Single-stage paint is porous to some degree.

Maybe it's just super soft clearcoat...

The GTR is known to have very soft clear especially the black, a simple touch up with a microfiber can leave swirl marks. With new cars its mostly from a plastic wrap during transit trapping moisture into the paint. Mine I'm not so sure. We will see what happens the next time it gets wet.

I suspect the issue will return once the car is wet. I suspect there is one or more very small fissures in the clear allowing moisture underneath.

We will see, I was told that once it evaporates it shouldn't come back but we'll see.

I had had this with some lacquers when i have sprayed a bonnet during the day and water has been sat on the bonnet over night.

I used infra red heatlamps to heat the panels and it goes away for good.
