Just picked this up from a local detailing store...


will it work on this?


I've tried soap/water and some Meguiars off the shelf wheel cleaner, with NO luck...even tried claying...took a little off, but this dust looks embedded!!!
Its mainly on the centers and particles in the barrel...

Any tips appreciated

 

I have never used it, and have never heard of how well that companies products work. I would do a very small test section on a part of the wheel that is inconspicuous.

My personal recommendation for what you have would be Sonax full effect. Its safe on the wheel, and is probably the toughest cleaner out that that will not damage the finish.

 

If that wheel is painted or powedercoated you can hit it with some really aggressive stuff.

 

I have nt03s that i use for track days with Carbotech xp10s all around, and the ONLY thing that cleans my rims is Lime-Away, and a dish brillow pad. I've been doing this for about 1 year now, and never had any problems.

Spray on, leave for like 3-5 min, then clean.

I believe Lime Away specifically says that their product is not approved for painted surfaces. And as far as using a brillo pad on a wheel,

 

 

well like i said, ive been doing this for a year and my rims still look brand new.

 

i recommend P21S gel, it was able to melt the caked on brake dust on my friends 3 series which was 3 times worse than yours. its also pH safe for alloys.

 

I don't know wtf some of these cats are cleaning the f'n wheels with, but it looks good now, but down the road you'll see your error.

The p21s gel is the best recommendation I have seen so far.

Another excellent choice would be Sonax wheel cleaner. Our sponsor, Detailer's Domain sells it.

It's an excellent product, and is very safe for your wheels.

 

From personal experience, Meg's WB is extremely affective. Cleaned the barrels of my AP1 wheels with this. Went from totally caked brake dust and road grime to like-new barrels, nothing left but very few, very small peices of road tar.

Most acid-based wheel cleaners will have this effect, depending on what concentrate they are. Acid based wheel cleaners aren't safe on all wheel surfaces/coatings, so check with the guys at detailersdomain before using any acid based wheel cleaner.

Besides that, I'd recommend Sonax. But if a clay bar didnt remove this, i'm not sure what will.
