Default wheel cleaner

I never took my wheels off and cleaned them. So now they are EXTREMELY dirty. There is so much brake dust and grit on the wheels that it is just unsanitary. Could you guys reccomened any POWERFULL I MEAN STRONG wheel cleaner or something that cleans off brake dust and wont damage the alloy wheels?

I am due for a tire rotation so i plan on cleaning them while they are off.

thanks

tire rotation???

anyway, do not use a powerful wheel cleaner, cause it will have acid in it-
you need a non-acid cleaner or you will etch or ruin the clear coat on the wheels.

just get a high quality non-acid based wheel cleaner (p21s is an example) and clean each wheel several times with a good wheel brush and the cleaner. that should work- just in case, you might need some clay. be sure to throw the clay away after you use it on wheels though.

Turtle Wax makes a couple of great wheel cleaners that don't have acid. One is "extra strentgh". I found that they both worked well. Maguiers' (spelling?) wheel cleaner sucked. It left a foggy film and it appeared to eat rubber.
I've also heard that DuPont makes a good wheel cleaner. I'm in persuit of that product. In the meantime, Turtle Wax has my vote.

Even with a good cleaner like A2Z or Meg's #36, you are still going to need a lot of "elbow grease"

All,
Earlier I reported that Maguire's SUCKED. I was mistaken. The product I was using - that I didn't like - is "Eagle One "A2Z". The cleaner leaves a cloudy film on the wheels and it appears to dissolve rubber. I won't use it again. I trashed the stuff and bought Turtle Wax's cleaner.
The Turtle Wax cleaner does a great job of thinning the brake dust. It rinses off fairly whell, but still requires a damp rub to finish.
I haven't used Maguire's product yet. Sorry about my mistake.
I do know that Maguire's makes killer waxes, and some say that they do make a fair wheel cleaner.

Just to clarify (again)...
I damp rub, or dry my wheels with a towel to avoid water spots. Turtle Wax gets the majority of the work done. I think that it would be difficult to find a product that totally rinses clean without the need to hand towel dry to avoid water spots.
Ok. I'm finally done.
