I'll vouch for QEW as well. I use it for a slightly different reason (apartment complex, expensive wash stalls elsewhere) and it gets the job done. I use 2 buckets to keep the wash bucket clean(er), and it seems to work well. I think a good hose wash is in order once in a while, but if your car's not caked in crap you should be good to go.
If the car, for example, has a bunch of junk from the stuff that the roads are treated with....I recommend just getting an old hand towel or a sponge and a bucket of warm water. Soak the towel/sponge, then gently wipe away all the junk. This will remove most of the thick stuff...then you can use the QEW to fully clean the car.

I see. I had actually mixed some FD into my QEW solution to wash the car. I had considered putting some into a spray bottle to pre-treat, but didn't feel the car was dirty enough to warrant it. I'll have to try that when the car is a little dirtier.

I have a method for you, it's called SIUS...

Stands for Suck it up Sissies.

I'm just kidding. It never gets colder than freezing but for maybe three nights out of a year here in Lafayette. Then it's warm and humid the next day.

I still may have to get some QEW though.

I use QEW year round. It is faster and les messy than using a hose.

I've heard of a lot of people using QEW all year. I thought it was a little faster, but nothing significant. Also, I don't mind the water going everywhere when I'm washing out in the driveway. So, once the weather gets warmer maybe in five months I'll go back to the old fashioned way.

I use it all year round. Here's a couple of pics of the porsche in the middle of a QEW session last winter. As you can tell I don't mind using QEW even when it's really dirty.
