I really don't know what a 2.2 conversion would cost, since I've never priced it. I just think it would be considerably less than a 2.4 conversion, since the parts are probably much cheaper (and your current rods might still be fine).

I'm really stuck right now on what to do with it. Should I sell it and go down payment another S, or build it. You think 3-4k is enough to build it? Thats about how much I have, and if I sell the S I can have 7-8k to down payment. It's really killing me.

Also labor is one thing i know that will kill me
when i had a new stock engine put in mine about 2 years ago, it came out to about $2500, engine prices as an aggregate are cheaper now than they were then. just wait till you spot a really good deal, then by an ap2 engine, and have someone drop it in.

Personally, i don't think engine prices have came down. Ap2 motors have. but Ap1's have gone up.

I've been looking for a AP1 motor for half of this year, and most of them are high mileage 00-01 motors or overly priced ones. I ended up buying a 05' ap2 motor from Davgoat for $2500 ish with 25k miles.

If you really look at the financial balance sheet, you will be paying for the engine one way or the other. You can either pay for it by selling the shell at a big loss, or you can pay for a replacement engine now, and increase the value of the car by that amount. Your net worth will be about the same. If you like the car, fix it!

It looks to be AP1. the same seller is selling ap1 head lights and a comptech supercharger. i'd bet that motor was s/c'd. Plus that motor is missing the crank pulley. Only explanation i could think of was he had to sell it with the s/c kit.

Those are both good catches! I don't know how comfortable I would be with buying a previously boosted motor, especially if I couldn't test drive it. Maybe if I could have it scoped and leak-down tested...
