Thumbs up Autocross

Hi guys,

I want to take my new S2000 to the autocross. How long is it till the next event that is open to novices? I checked the SCCA schedule, they mention some sort of "championships" on Oct 9 & 16, does it make sense to show up if I've never been to an autocross before? Is there anything at Qualcomm this weekend ( Oct 1-2 )?

current events can be found here.

http://www.sdr-scca.com/solo2/schedule/

Auto cross form for san diego region can be found here.

http://www.sdsolo.com/vbportal/forums/index.php?

if its your first time, get to the event early. remove all the stuff from the trunk. dont be afraid to ask questions most of the veterans there are great and would give a helping hand to who ever ask.

most of the time you get three runs in your group and work one.

other then that its fun and a great experience.

As far as I can tell, it does not list ALL the events that take place at Qualcomm. For example, there will be an event on Oct 15:

Otherwise, thanks for the reply ...

it says Championship but I was there on Sep 9 or 10 when they had the last "championship" and it was definitely open to new drivers! it wasnt a championship per se, but i guess there is a "winner"

I went to the Sep. 10 SCNAX Championships as my first autocross, and novices are welcome (I was one of them).

The 2nd was the Lotus Elise AutoX. Lots of fun.. there was 1 S2K there, well 2 if you include mine, but I didn't run the S.

Great. Just as I am about to go to the autocross, I get a big nail nudged in my front tire and end up having to go to the tire shop to patch it up. I wonder if it's still safe to go there with a patched tire?
