Default Moving to San Diego - question

Hey all,

I'm moving to san diego in the new year and have a question for all the locals:

I have headers, test pipe (no cel) and a loud exhaust (details in sig), will I have any issues passing california smog test? Will I get hassled by the cops or get a ticket for noise?

thanks...btw, never had a problem in Boston, but I know Cali is different

If you want to pass a legit smog, you are going to have to get rid of the header and throw a stock one on, and possibly some new O2 sensors. Your exhaust should be fine, as long as it doesnt go over 95db I believe.

on the state smog check you won't pass visual because of no cat... i think... maybe...

and you might want to make sure you have the carb sticker for the fipk...

What they said,

CARB numbers for intake/headers/etc.
Catalytic Converter for smog.
Exhaust not louder than 95db.

Depending where you are going to live, you might get harass more.

Smog does not check your dB rating, but you wont pass due to the test pipe. If you change that out for a cat, you should be good. However, if you get pulled over, you can get an emissions violation ticket that will run $450 for the headers and cat, I got one for the intake on my old car not having a C.A.R.B. sticker. California vehicle code is such a load of BS.

yep the only problem you will have is the testpipe... get a cat and slap that in there and you will pass if you have carb intake
