hi all,

i am looking for a good/reasonable alignment shop in san diego (preferably north county). i used the search and found some ideas but i got mixed feelings about it.

people are saying clarence brown (in Convoy) is the place to go but that was a few years back. I've read since that there was some management change and the place isn't as good as it used to be. Some folks are also saying Trueline in South SD is good but that's a bit far from where I am (Vista). Please help.

Also, excuse me for the noob question but the s2k is supposed to have adjustable camber, correct? lol forgive me for my ignorance. if that's case, will the shop know to make this adjustment because that's really what i need (and/or corner balance). i've been delaying this for so long and i'm fed up with replacing my tires every year due to uneven wear.

thanks in advance.

I'm not going to get mad because I'm a nice guy but...

(A direct quote stolen from Castro "latinochino" off the important topic title<<right when you click San Diego section, it's the bolded topics on the very top of the page)
Alignment Plus & Brakes
1566 Grand Ave
San Marcos, CA 92078

Ask for George (I think)

coupon: http://www.merchantcircle.com/busine...s.760-471-2233

History: When I lowered my S. I looked for a place to do it of course. I came to relize that most places do not accept business for cars that are lowered or "dumpped" They use a ramp to go on and it is done electronically.

As for Alignment Plus, they do all there alignments manually. Yes with actual alignment tools. Also they do not have a ramp. You just drive into their garage and they service the car by going down a level, like how jiffy lube has their setup. They did the UK specs I have requested without question and I am still riding on the same tires that I bought a year and half ago.

Also for me, I went to Clarence Brown. If you can make it up the steep ramp (if you are lowered), please do so but you will be dropping $135 for a 4 wheel alignment on stock OEM specs and wait like 1.5 hours. They are nice but way too pricey, alignments were good though.

I would recommend True Line as well on Kearny Villa Road (In Clairemont), price is around $73 for an all wheel alignment (price cut nearly in half comapred to Clarence Brown) and they do a good job, they have a huuuuge shop. They have messed up a few times though on some people's cars here (TeamBukkakesucks & ferboi have both had bad alignments done by them). They did a good jod and they throughly explain to rookies what they did, they give you before and after specs as well.

Good luck

hmm...you sure you searched? I've seen this topic up every other week since the beginning of the year lol...

I never go to clarence brown anymore. Even when they were good, they were too expensive. It's not THAT hard to align the car.

I've only taken my car to TrueLine El Cajon. They do a great job every time. Just took it there a couple months ago too.

I've recently been referred to Express Tire off Aero drive though. They apparently have a $110 lifetime alignment, and they do custom specs. There is a guy there that specializes in S2000's...had a couple friends go there already that were very satisfied. i'll be hitting it up in a couple weeks when i'm ready to get an alignment.

I forgot to add but this is what topic you click
Note: Official San Diego Mechanic/Body Shop Thread
Post reputable shops here!

Some other side information I would like to add is with semi-harsh driving, I change my rear tires every 1 year and front tires every 2 years with decent thread tires (300-340 thread wear). I don't track my car but I gun my car at times and hug corners half the time. My vehicle is also slammed so my tires wear out faster. And I get an alignment everytime I get new tires (so every year on the rear and every 2 years on the front).

Thank you howrd in pointing Rowan at the right direction. As for my experience A plus alighnment. they are pricy (i think 110) but they took care of my exact needs and it was local. i am not bias and i think other members recommend a shop. go for it. I am sure it is easy as it sounds but at the same time, sometimes you get what you pay for. Overall, you get what you can afford and worth it to you if you have to drive a distance or not :tipcap:

Howard, sorry i didnt see (didnt pay attention rather) to the obvious topics on the SD section. my bad. thanks for pointing that out. I did use Alignment Plus before (6+ years ago) for a different car and they didn't do a very good job. maybe things have changed...

Nick, yes i searched and i did find some answers but like i said, i needed to get more input on CB. as it turns out, it there are other places to consider.

thanks again.
