Default The Oklahoma Experience

JANUARY 2014 UPDATE

Sing it with me... "OOOOOOOklahoma where the wind goe..." OK SHUT UP, SHUT UP RIGHT NOW. Hey Oklahoma you suck, just an fyi. Right, so been out here in Duck-Dynastyville USA for the last year, and what a year it has been, here is what has happened since my last update in April:

1. We (Sarah and I) are pregnant, I'm gonna have a mini-driver!
2. Accepted to Aerospace Engineering program
3. Back-to-back 4.0 semesters
4. May 20 Moore Tornado obliterated my cousin's house
5. kicked out two roommates
6. my s2k was in it's 4th collision and 1st in Oklahoma (I wasn't kidding when I said these drivers are the worst I've ever seen)
7. blew the timing belt on my impreza (may 19th, chasing tornadoes), so the motor is jacked up (replacing it right now)
8. OK OK OK, not everything sucks here, watching the Sooners play in person is actually pretty rad

So, same old same old I guess?

For the record, yes: I still own the rally-built FC3S, 98 impreza OBS, 05 s2k (now w/ white hood!!), and 73 F250.

Happy new year to all you guys!
========================
FROM APRIL 2013

Howdy pardoners,

Mkay so I can't swing that, I'm not even gonna try. So I'm live from Oklahoma reporting on the latest. Oh wait, silly me, I didn't even introduce myself: Hey there, my name is Steve, some of you know me as "that Jewish Marine" or "that guy that wanted to drive a rally america RX7" or "lol, you're really a Marine? You're too dorky to be a Marine!", yeah, that guy! Anyways, so I'm back from... heck, wherever it was I've been. So here is the latest report on what I've seen and what I know:

1. I'm not dead, sweet
2. If you try to replace a motor in a BMW X5... don't...ever...seriously....don't
3. Deployment and Post-Marine Corps life changes things... um...sweet...I guess??? :\
4. And this is the doozy--- Oklahomans are the worst drivers I have EVER SEEN EVER, presented is the evidence:

On two lane roads, they come to a complete stop to make a left hand turn across a double yellow line (even when the speed limit is 45+mph). In 4 months I have seen one accident, heard of 2 happening to friends, seen the aftermath of no less than 10, and in a town of only 100K people that doesn't bode well. At LEAST 50% of the cars have a significant dent, 25% have a significant piece missing or completely destroyed (headlight, body panel, etc). There is NO SUCH THING as slow driver moves over to the right lane, they do what I call "box" driving. They just match speed with the driver next to them, whether fast or slow. They do not yield to right of way and ignore common sense safety. They will do things like creep into an intersection for a yield-left turn, but then let the light turn red on them and sit there anyways (I've seen this NO LESS than 20 times). HELP????!?!?! D:

5. Oh yeah, btw, my studies at the University of Oklahoma are going REALLY well, and I'm kicking names and taking ass... so it's pretty sweet-tastic.

<3 you all, miss you all

Glad to hear you're doing all right

That's weird about the not moving over thing. In all my years living in the South, they seemed to be really good about it since they have alot of 2 lane roads. I thought it was just Californian's that didn't know how to do it since they're spoiled with 6 lane highways.

Moved to BMWs? Oh no...I think not. After replacing an engine and an oil pump...just no...I never ever ever want to touch a BMW again. Anyways, Sarah is great, she got out of the marine corps in January and is studying out here at OU as well...

she is majoring in Chinese, and Im majoring in architecture, likely will double major in Chinese also. I already placed at near fluent level in their testing, so i guess im good.

Well look who decided to show up! Good to hear from you. Congrats on 1-3, sorry to hear about 4-7, but it sounds like overall life is moving forward successfully despite Oklahoma's suckyness.
