Default ATTN: PICKLE

Long story short, I'm overseas. Contacted pickle via phone about condition of the car (pics-it looks immaculate) Asked him if there was anything wrong with the car. He then said, oh it's an 06. Just normal wear and tear. Asked him about rips/tears in soft top, how are the carpets, dents, dings, cracks, motor run fine, diff whine, etc?? He says no. Only issues are cel for test pipe and maint. light for oil change.

My friend picks it up yesterday and informs me that there are rips in the softtop, big enough that he can stick two fingers thru, crack running from driver side all the way across to rear view mirror (I believe) and numberous maint. indicator lights on, mission FOB.. all he was given was one key. I asked him to email me all that was wrong with it. I will update this thread when I have that information.

I contacted Pickle via phone and told him what my friend had told me and that I wanted some of my money back.. He then tells me that he doesn't have any money and that he told me about the condition of the car in his words "I told you man it was an 06, not a new car." WTF? Seriously. When I ask you if there is anything wrong with the car and I ask specific questions.. I expect specific truthful answers. I paid 24k for a 2006 S that was supposed to be in tip-top condition.

**DO NOT BUY FROM PICKLE.

Also wanted to add that he hung up on me and refuses to answer my calls.

Maintenance Lights that are on: CEL, Maintenance Light, VSA light, and ABS light.

Cruise control doesn't work.

Driver's side rear brake light inop.

Unsure if Honda Factory Alarm is installed.

This is a hard lesson learned. Did you have any one inspect the car before money was given to seller? OR was this purchase without visual inspection by you or friend previously before transaction was completed.

I've never been in this situation, but I hope you can resolve this.

He is on the wrong for not being accurate on his description

I assume this is the car? https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/889...#entry20863003

I remember seeing his driver seat bolster being smashed flat due to his big stature.

^Yeah, that's the one.

No visual inspection and indeed a lesson learned. Guy sounded trustworthy and assumed he was truthful in his description given the pictures of the car, vouchers for some of his previous sales, and also for the fact he bought an 08' Z06 (allegedly). Hopefully, all of this stuff is minor.. The condition of the soft top is what really irks me.

My friend told me that the interior is actually in decent shape. The body is also GTG. Just electrical problems, softtop rips, and windshield cracks.. could have been a lot worse. I'll take it to honda to verify the ECU and mileage of the car when I fly in sometime in December. (or have my family take it up) Hopefully he will resolve the matter, but based on my phone conversation with him, I doubt it.

Damn, that sucks. I thought about buying wheels from him but he was to far away for me to check them out and I wasn't going to send 3k+ without a visual. Hopefully everything gets resolved sucks to hear about this kind of stuff within our community.

Pickle logged in today and erased my comment I left on his page pointing him to this thread. I think he's trying to ignore the problem.

Also wanted to add that my friend is dropping the S off at it's final resting place until my return and has promised me that he will take photos of everything..

Pics coming soon.

What's really sad is that the payoff on the car was $7,111. I paid 24k and I'm only asking for $2000 to be refunded. (I think that is a fair amount - not unrealistic at all. ). But he says he doesn't have any money!

Edit: Received email from friend with pics and descriptions. Will upload after work.

When selling a car, most people will tell you everything that is right with the car and some who will tell you everything that is wrong. I'd rather deal with the latter. I learned this lesson the hard way as well as a car I had shipped in showed up with a laundry list of things wrong. In all fairness to an overseas buyer and fellow forum member, something like a softop tear should be disclosed whether he specifically asked about it or not.
