Default Do scammers know its 2013?

So I recently posted in the WTB section that I was looking for a hardtop, and I received a PM on here from some one telling me they had one forsale and to email them. First thing I did was check out they're profile and I noticed they had just created an account the previous day and not just that but they were already banned. I thought to my self maybe it's just someone that was lurking and saw that I was looking for a hardtop and made an account to let me know of it so I emailed them to see what's up and it went a little like this,

"Hey how much are you asking for the top?"
"I'm asking 700 shipped, see attached pics"
"What make is it? Where are you located?"
"It's a mugen hardtop s2ki. I'm in Indiana"

BOOM redflag. I immediately realized he was a scammer so I thought I would have some fun with him and make a fool of him self.

I then said
"Okay great, how can I send you a payment? Do you have a phone number you can be reached at?"
"i will take money gram payment as my paypal account is currently dormant at the moment. My Phone # is 765-***-4402"

So I gave him a call and this is how that went,
"hey Im calling about your top"
"Ohh hey I'm asking 700 shipped"
"Okay cool, what make is the top?"
"ohh it's a mugen rep top"
"no I asked what make, who makes the top? Mugen is just the design"
"ohh uhhhh idk it was on my car"
"ohh okay, you have an ap1 or ap2 or 3"
"I have an ap3"
LOL WHAT?
"where did you say you were located again?"
"I'm in connersville Indiana"
"oh really no way! I have family there! Maybe I can have one of my cousins go pick up the top for me"
"uhhhhh last time I gave my address to someone I got robbed.."
"oh no its fine I can have him meet you in a public place like a gas station or something I'll let you pick the place"
*CLICK*
He hung up on me.

Lol dang scammers do they really have nothing better to do? And do they know where in 2013? If they want to scam people successfully they better step there game up and plan there stuff out a little better then that lol, any ways just thought I'd share my story with my s2k family

Lol nice. I cannot believe people still think the old money gram scam would work. AP3. Classic.

I've had plenty of people trying to scam me with this type of crap over the years. It is quite hilarious when you're aware of what they're doing.

On another note, Manga Spawn........in your profile pic there, is that your car? I love the Red Accents to the shift boot, side of the console, ebrake handle, and red stitching to steering wheel. Where can I locate these items to purchase? I've looked at a lot of places but I must not be visiting the right places Thanks!

I wasn't sure if it was against the rules or something to post his number but if it is and I am doing wrong mods please delete or edit my post and I didn't want to seem like an a**hole or anything thing but here's his number since you requested it 765-377-4402. It would be pretty funny get a lot of people to call him and ask about his "hardtop forsale" maybe it'll teach him a lesson about staying away from the s2ki community

Scammers exist because people still fall for them.

Nice move OP.
