Eye opener..how things can take a turn for the worst
I have a H3R Performance MaxOut fire extinguisher mounted in the cabin since I started messing with the fuel lines. Hopefully, I won't have to use it.

I had a lucky close call a few months back when my fuel line ruptured coming from my Comptech RRFPR. I was extremely lucky that it happened only about two minutes after a cold start and that nothing made its way over to the header.
The pictures are astounding, how quickly and completely cars can burn. I may grab one of these smaller ones for the passenger floor, and a larger size for the trunk as well.
do you guys think the 2.5lb or 5lb will be sufficient? i'm thinking this one will be good, since it's also rechargable:

2.5lb Dry Chemical - 1A:10B:C
2.5lb Halotron - 2B:C
5lb Dry Chemical - 3A:40B:C
5lb Halotron - 5B:C
So for the 2.5lb bottles, the Dry Chem has a 10B rating, while the Halotron has only a 2B. That means that the Dry Chem could extinguish up to 5 times as much fire as the Halotron of the same size/weight. For the 5lb bottles the spread is even more... Dry Chem is rated at 40B while Halotron is only rated at 5B... so Dry Chem could extinguish up to 8 times as much fire as the Halotron.
The 2.5lb Dry Chem could extinguish a fire twice the size as one that the 5lb Halotron could extinguish. Smaller bottle, but handles a bigger fire. I don't care if I get yellow powder all up in my car... if its better at putting out the fire then that's the one I want.
Also - the dry chems are rechargeable as well.

get as much fire extinguishing power as possible. either way after a fire you are gonna have a lot to clean up so you might as well get the best you can buy. Here are before and after pics of my small fire. This fire only burned for maybe 30 seconds but it seemed like an eternity

After the engine got pulled found out that the entire steering rack was destroyed and of course the wire harness was destroyed, basically everything in the engine bay had to be replaced. It honestly didnt look that bad but just about everything under the hood had to be replaced. The heat from the fire even damaged my aem ems, and a few other things in the dash. Be careful everyone because once these fires get going they are extremely hard to put out.

how about a fire suppression system that has nozzles in engine bay? has anyone done it on their s? doing more and more research, it seems like it'd be better to fight engine fires. Also plan to have a 2.5 or 5lb portable extinguisher either in the cabin or in the trunk.
This past weekend a good friend of mine lost his 1000+whp turbo c6 in a unexpected fire. Luckily he survived and noone was injured but it just goes to show how anything can happen to anyone at any point in time. He was just cruising around when a fire started under the hood unfortunately he didnt have any fire extinguisher to stop the blaze. Its believed to be a fuel leak but nothing is certain. I asked him for permission to put this up just to make people aware FI or not to take some safety precautions because you never know. My heart goes out him as he has put blood, sweat, tears, time and obviously more money than most could imagine. It was deffinately a wicked ride and I wish em the best on his future endevours. Here is a link to lsx tv which has a few pictures and some story behind the beast. Be safe out there guys
