Installed VFR mirrors and new 4-point harnesses on the Vortx over the weekend. The old mirrors were too low, too small, and too floppy. Wouldn't hold adjustment and were always pointing at the rear fenders. Lap belts were impossible to adjust.

If anyone is looking for a deal on 4-point harnesses, there are new military spec surplus on eBay for $45 a set. Made by Schroth. Schroth street harnesses are going for 4X that price and these are nicer.

Today I fixed something that has been bugging me for years. The VFR has an exposed frame rail on each side that had faded, ugly paint. Wrapped it in 3M Carbon Fiber.

What is this 3M carbon fiber you speak of? What uses does it have?

It is a vinyl wrap.

You can wrap almost anything with it: https://www.google.com/search?q=3M+c...eCDvFNZXaPppM:

Another project in the works for the Vortx. The R1 has a flaky oil level sensor. It is a well known issue with no real cure for it. I've been tempted to jumper out the warning light, but it would leave me with no oil indicator. Fortunately, I have a brand new VDO oil pressure gauge that I bought 15+ years ago for one of the X1/9s that I never got around to installing. Knowing motorcycle electrics, I decided it would be a good idea to install a volt meter while I was at it. Picked up a matching VDO gauge from Ebay for $21. I spent a few minutes last night in front of the TV and made a wiring harness for the gauges. I still need to order an adapter fitting and a braided flex hose for the oil pressure sensor, but it should be a relatively easy install after that.

Vortx, R1, VFR .... assuming an S2000, that's quite the stable.

I like the aftermarket motorcycle turn signals on the Vortx.
