This should give you an idea of the size of our cruise ship. 4,000 passengers, 1,700 crew. Just too big, as far as I am concerned. From the dock in Costa Maya, Mexico.

Wow, Gene! That is ONE huge ship! We never got into the cruise thing. We used to enjoy going to one island and touring it at our leisure and sitting on our tails as much as we wanted. I'm glad you and Bea have had the opportunity to travel with the grandsons. It's a nice thing to do with/for them.

Lainey, the grandsons LOVED it! Other than dinner and the excursions we went on, we never saw them. There was a teen center where they hung out most of the time, along with the basketball court, etc. They also had their own cabin, so I suspect that there could have been "friends" of the opposite sex visiting. They are both 17, so better not to know!

That thing is humungous! Like being on an aircraft carrier. Can you even feel the waves? Even in a storm?

Is that wooden thing on top a roller coaster?

Yep. About 1,100 feet long. We could occasionally feel a little wave action, but it's extremely stable, as the Captain explained in a "meet the crew" gathering.
The structure you're referring to is really steel painted to look like wood, and it's a ropes course.

Way, way too big for me. By contrast, our river cruise ship next year has 162 cabins.
