A couple shots from this morning. The red-headed woodpecker drives me nuts. Even when I have camera in hand and watch him fly to a feeder he always stays mostly hidden and/or only lands for a fraction of second so I can never get a really good photo that shows his great color.

My niece and her hubby have a squirrel feeder. It's a wooden houselike thing with a large jar attached. The squirrels go in the back of the jar and seem to know that their dogs can't get them. They keep trying. The larger dog can stand up on her hind legs and look at the feeder, but the squirrel just stares at her from inside.

Gold Finches are emptying the 15" tube feeder in less than two days! Not sure I can afford to keep feeding them at this rate!

Nice, Dave!

One feeder looks totally empty after my time away. Will tend to it tonight. They will just have to travel to one of the other two until I have some time.....

Nice job with the photos!! Love the cardinal shot, Dave!

My Juncos (snowbirds) have left. Feeders are getting active again, just the typical birds. I am seeing the White Breasted Nut Hatch a bit more often. Cool bird. I'll have to lurk in the yard with the camera and zoom.

Best of all my hummingbirds have returned.

My shots are always through a kitchen window and I don't have real fancy camera but I love the subjects. Donna does all the work - filling all the feeders, cleaning the bird bath, etc. - and I have the fun of watching the gang show up every day all day.

It's still a nice shot of the cardinal though the window with no fancy camera! You caught his eye and he's looking at you! The few cardinal pics I've caught, are always head on, and the black markings on the face of the male have made it tough to get what I think is a good shot. The "Eyes Have It."
