I have to agree that Meguires NXT is good. I also like the results I get from their Black Wax
I think Collinite is more durable though

 

Waxes and sealants (and even different waxes and sealants) often have different looks to them. Carnubas generally tend to be warmer, wetter, deeper. Sealants tend to be shinier as it forms a hard shell that bonds to and sits on top of the paint. Sealants tend to be much easier to apply. Sealants tend to last longer. Sealants require a clean surface (no other waxes) to bond to. So I use these after a correction, and then if desired, a carnuba with no cleaning power can be layered over a sealant.

 

I always use a sealant as a finisher. The wax is just to give the car the extra pop for whenever I want it to look good. I normally use Meguiar's Synthetic Sealant 2.0, but I've been meaning to try Chemical Guys Jet Seal.

 

Sealant tends to be more durable than wax in terms of longevity and protection against the element. I find most waxes last 6-8 weeks before they wear out. If the weather is hot/humid, I expect it to wear out even faster. Obviously there are exceptions to this as some wax are really nice.

I don't wax anymore because of time constraint. My S gets a ceramic coating and that'll last me 2-3 years. On my other cars, I'll use CarPro Hydro2 (spray on sealant) because it's that quick to apply and I don't have to worry about getting wax on rubber trims on whatnot. Plus it works on wheels too! It lasts ~3 months but because the application is so easy you can afford to use it often.

Then a coat of Collinite 845 over top of that.

 

I've been using Blackfire sealant since it came out, maybe 3-4 years ago and I'm pretty (more than that) happy with it.

 

What do you guys recommend for those of is that have thin paint, as in lots of wear from UV.

 

You mean your paint oxidized or the clear coat failed? Pretty much anything is better than nothing at this point. In short of a repaint, you can only slow down the degradation.

 

yeah, clearcoat is nearly gone, and a few small spots where the paint itself started to peel, the driver side by the window is pretty bad.

 

Currently using Victoria Concours Wax.
