does this 'stitching' apply to our cars as well? and would removing said stitching remedy this potential safety hazard?

i've already ordered the parts (momo wheel, nrg hub and quick release) so would like to get this sorted before i do the install.

 

Aftermarket wrapped steering wheels are better for safety as they retain the OEM airbag configuration but will cost more. All depends on the purpose of the car.

I think he is referring to an OEM wheel wrapped in aftermarket material.

 

When I installed my Momo wheel, I also installed one of these seat belt locks to limit movement. I don't know about any stitching.

If you want to retain the safety of having an airbag I would suggest looking around the forums for Guardian Designs. They are a good [cheaper] alternative to EuroBoutique when it comes to having a customized oem steering wheel. I have had one for going on 2 years with no issue. I had mine wrapped in alcantara.

 

i dont care about airbag, i just want to know if the weird break apart seat belt stitching feature applies to the s2000 as well.

 

FWIW, I looked over the driver seat belt assembly that I have from my prior S2000 under an intense light and see no, what I would call, redundant stitching at the base where it bolts to the seat.

 

I recently swapped out my oem belts and seats and saw no such secondary stitching on the oem belts so you should be good to go. That being said, if you do intend to get aftermarket harnesses ensure you use a proper seat with harness holes and a proper harness bar (usually wrapped around a harness bar attached to a roll bar).
