Great drive and clearly a sweet race car by Adair's AH, who took the flag with ease. Really I am surprise given some of the cars out there.

Doing that type of racing was always #1 on my bucket list after attending my first vintage race at Elkhart Lake! So many things put it off, and then I finally got the car - an MGA MkII, 30th from the end of production. I won't take up space telling the rest of the story but a powerful local politician who was a neighbor and ass-hole lived just behind me, and kept me from building a garage for several years and even after it was built he tried to stop me getting a driveway to it!! Too many years past and arthritis in my hands and shoulders told me vintage racing was never going to happen. So I bought the S2000, tossed in a roll bar, and enjoyed what I could on track-days in a car that didn't require engine pulls, etc.

I'm not familiar with the MGA driver who ran about 10th most of the time; probably a west coast driver. I am familiar with the two mentioned at the end that were bringing up the rear (ha, ha, ha). . . at least their cars - Don Watson and Silverman.

But, even it you don't get on track, its great fun to go to a vintage race - me and buddy at Sebring (naturally, he is the skinny one but he was also still racing vintage that weekend, and I was just crew toughing it out).

 

The MGA in 10th was feisty. Some acts of daring-do right there.

The Healey is well known in Healey circles. It was a factory racer for the Canadian series.

 

That's a crazy link Bill, that 1969 Sebring race that they show at the beginning really took me down memory lane. OMG, Redman, Donahue, etc. I knew 95% of the drivers they show (from magazines, which I devoured at the time and tv). Lol when the crew took a vice-grip and tour apart the F car! Where the H did the year's go. Oh, well, I would not change a thing if I could go back to those days - family came first. But, damn, to be born with a silver spoon back then would have been blast. But, heck, I just dreamed of racing at a local road course called Waterford Hills and it was only a mile or two away at the time. All I could afford at the time was to race at the winter 'ice' races on a pond nearby (It didn't cost anything, or very little, but it was really organized - they did that back in the day.)

Bill, I sure hope you are not letting that beautiful Austin Healey sit around because its worth too much to enjoy. Tell me you're not! If so, get an MGA, I know you know them well.

 

Bill, that video could keep me entertained all night. I always loved the Alfa GTA's that raced in the next race (61-66 GT's). I used to know heart surgeon who raced one in vintage. Thanks for sharing. I've got to save some for later, since there's nothing on TV these days.
