I would list 'comfort' as the number one reason and safety as the second.

A couple of my friends have Buick SUV's. And, I laughed out loud when the wife of one said they were thinking of getting a truck and pulling a camper! You have to know this couple to appreciate that statement - they constantly take boat and river cruises all over the world, have a lovely house on a lake, stay in the top tier motels, and she's always loaded down with real jewelry even in our neighborhood bars. OMG, she'd last about a week with that life style and he'd last about two.

Bill, when you are retired, have no hobbies, and are bored that's what people come up with.

Today my oldest grandson and I took on his 2003 Cadillac CTS which needed a new radiator, transmission cooling lines, and headlights on one side. Believe it or not to just "change" the headlight bulbs you have to remove the front bumper, front grill, and then the headlight housing! Actually things went way better and faster than we expected and we got everything apart in just a couple hours. He did 80% of the work with me supervising and doing cleanup as it went along. He got the new radiator and it looks like a match. He still needs to order lines, bulbs, etc. When he gets more $$.

I haven't given Buicks a look for years, but there is a nice looking newer GS in the parking lot at work that caught my attention, or rather, the big Brembo brakes did! Looked it up, 19 inch wheels, turbo...this is getting interesting.

Then I saw the "base" price was $38K! Not your Dad's Buick...and apparently not mine either.

Some of the new Buicks look good, problem is they carry the Buick stigma with them. I think GM should've kept Pontiac around and branded them as such.

GM knew the greatest future sales market for Buick is in China, where its high regarded; unlike Pontiac.

Exactly right. Last year GM sold more Buicks in China than they did in the US.

The story I heard is that the last emperor of China was driven around in a Buick.
