Stock Seat Discomfort
Or you can do what I did, take the car to a top rated car upholster in your area and let them look how you sit in the car and tell them where it gets uncomfortable and how long it takes to get uncomfortable. They are the experts and can fix the stock seats in the S, I have over 200k miles in our '06 S and when I did this to our S, it made all the difference on long drives. I'm 6' stop, now I'm 5' 11" due to my age(70) and 240# and I did some long drives in the S last year before my wife passed away and both she and I never had to complain about the seats because I had then rebuilt to fit my ass. Made all the difference in the world and I went with leather sides and back of the seats with cloth in the centers both bottom(what you sit on) and the back(what supports your back).
Is it cheap, not really but I got exactly what I wanted, comfortable seats.

P.S. the longest trip we took was just over 8900 miles when we took our first coast to coast to coast drive, Did that 3 times with our S, and hit 45 states.

Bit of a thread bump, did you ever get a sit in the PP ABE's dude? Feel like I am in a similar boat (albeit late 30's with a wonky back instead). I also have a 2010 mx5 and find the seats in that infinately more comfortable (but sadly also a bit like park benches so dont hold you at all).
Currently my thinking is trying to get a cobra nogaro in - but similarly hoping to find somewhere / a car I can sit in them in first, they seem to be a very popular every day driver seat right now

Just to touch up I know I'm late to the subject but I can relate completely to this.
Picked up an AP2 05 with about 150k miles been driving it almost daily to and from work. I'd drive it more but I keep getting a pesky leg cramp in my right leg on long drives and can't stand that I'm sitting on the car not in it.
(6'1 130 pounds)
Decided to get a Recaro RSG to lower myself more and hoping since it'll hold me in place better and maybe relieve some of the tightness in my leg when driving and inspire a bit more confidence.
Just put mounts on last night so will get the whole seat in later this weekend and can update you guys on the process if it helps.

Work beat me up this week so I was not able to get the seat mounted till yesterday. Sorry for the late reply.
After using it for a day now I think the consensus I have is the Recaro is the way. Gone is a majority of my discomfort and now with it being fixed I genuinely feel held in place and it gives me the confidence I want while driving.
I am now able to see out the tachometer and out the rear view with ease. Being able to brace you thighs on the sides of the bucket seat are a big help as you don't feel so helpless trying to squeeze your legs around ever so often trying to find a comfortable spot with the stock seats.
Good to know, I do feel like even the switch to cloth / alcantara most aftermarket seats bring is also a plus as stops you sliding into a slouch, I am convinced my crap back is also impacted by the way you step into the s2k due to the hump across the footwell.
Be cool to keep this thread relevant Incase others in the same situation chime in. Still on my list for later down the line

The Mita seat bottoms feel pretty similar to the stock seat pads to me. Supposedly they are a little firmer foam than stock new ones, but they are not any less comfy than the 20 year old stock ones I removed. They are pretty easy to install with the correct tools, and you gotta love a nice bolster.
IMO, the Recaro PP ABEs are miles more comfortable (I have them in another car)

Well, I don't do long drives very often but when I drove my 2004 S2000 from my FL home to my CT home last year, I just went to Walmart and bought 2 fabric covered foam chair cushions. The shape actually fit my seats fairly well and I even got a blue fabric that matches my Suzuka Blue interior.I keep them in the trunk or in the garage when I don't need them for my 66 year old ass. Not a hight end permanent solution, but for $10, they do the job!!
