Default Qube is back from Paris! Pics!

It was my fourth trip to Paris, and I finally had time to be a tourist (Previous three times were for work). All 6 of us stayed at Le Meridian Etoille, just a coupleblocks away from the Arc de Triomphe. We saw Notre Dame, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Pigalle, Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel Tower, the Palace of Versailles, etc.

...And the big question? How was the atmosphere during the war? Well, I was treated quite poorly at times, but not any worse than my other trips to Paris. There definitely is some anti-American sentiment as you can see in some of the pics, but Americans are not getting beat down in the street or anything. I warned my GF before we landed that she can't start sh!t with everyone who bumps into her, cuts in line, etc., because it's just more "accepted" over there. It's not that everyone has bad manners, it's just that the concept of manners is somewhat different. Imagine pushing a car out of the way with your bumper when parallel parking in Los Angeles, for example...

Okay, on to the pics!

Here we are, soaking up Paris like a sponge, in front of McDonalds, in typical French berets.

Hahaha... no way is that us. I couldn't believe the nerve of these dudes in the picture. Nothing says "kick my American ass" more than these guys.
1) Souvenir berets
2) Shorts
3) Athletic socks
4) Sweaters tied around the waist
5) Fanny Packs
6) Hangin' in front of McCky D's
7) I couldn't get the "loud and obnoxious" on film.

Okay, here's some of my buds on the metro (kids, don't lick the handrails on the metro).

Here's the GF and I in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Various anti-American and anti-war stuff...

Misc. Car-related stuff
This Renault store was really cool. They had this full scale F-1 car mounted on a wall. Every few minutes, video of a pit crew working around the car would be projected onto it.

cool pics!
I'm glad you enjoyed it and didn't get camembert cheese thrown at you!

That Bullet train is ridiculous!
As ridiculous as the one that goes around Montmartre and looks like some kind of steam 18th century train..

The writing you were trying to figure out says 'Saddam, Le Pen poubelle'
which, apart from being really poor French, means: Saddam (you know him) and Le Pen (French right-wing-xenophobic-almost nazi politician) to the trash.

I agree!

Nice pics, Art! Glad you returned unscathed.

The one thing that I really remember from my last visit there, are those Magnum ads everywhere. I thought they were for condoms, until I went to buy one. I thought the ice cream bar in the ad was a subliminal thing!

I went to Paris a few years back. I had a great time and was treated like a champ. Of course you didn't see me running around in Reboks, shorts and a T-shirt either.

At one point I was in an Irish pub in the middle of Paris listening to American gansta rap on the sound system. Talk about culture shock.
