Mine peeled as well. Rather than hassle with dealer, I took it to get it repaired to a place of my own choosing. No problem since the repaint was done.

Pretty disappointing for Honda to have so many major TSB's.

2001 Red, San Diego, bought the car last december.
Exactly same problem.
Figured that it will happen again if I get it fixed so I'm living with it.
Definitely a recall item, I'd say.

Oh the headaches this has caused me.
Same story at the begining:
Paint peel on my red MY2000 #5651
Took it to dealer, told to come back for the regional rep
showed it to regional rep on second trip,
was told that the bumper will be repainted.
well, after 4 visits (bad touchup, overspray all over, bad color matching, bad color matching), the color is still off.

I've pretty much gave up on this for the moment. Just hoping that Honda will issue some sort of recall or until 29,000 mile to take it back in for one more time.

please becareful, go straight to the service manager and make sure they'll do a thorough job. Even then, it's still no gurranttee.
This and other quality issues have convinced me that this is the last up-scale car I'll ever buy from Honda, Acura dealer maybe better.

UPDATE - It has been two weeks since the Honda Rep. told me he would replace the bumper with the new designed one. I haven't heard from anyone!!! I wrote a letter (seven pages) to Honda in Japan and to Honda America regarding the situation with the bumper and how it is being handled.

My car is almost 90 days old and Honda has been treating me like SH*T. If this is their aditude, I want my money back. Good thing Georgia has the lemon law!!! If they can't fix the car the third time I can either get a new car or my money back!

Should have bought a TT or a vette!!

SloPoke,

They told me the same thing about the bumper part number. But we (myself, body shop manger, Honda Rep.) saw the differences between my bumper and the bumper that was placed on the higher VIN car (which was built later than ours). They ARE CLEARLY DIFFERENT. The new cars have a gap almost as thick as a business card, between the bumper and fender.

The Honda rep told me to write a letter!!! That's his solution!
Here is the address

American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
National Consumer Affairs
1919 Torrance Boulevard
Torrance, CA. 90501

I also CC these people:

Honda Motor Co. Ltd.
Mr. Hiroyuki Yoshino
President & CEO
2-1-1 Minami-Aoyama
Minato-Ku Tokyo 107
Japan

American Honda Motor Company, Inc.
Mr. Richard Colliver
Executive Vice President
P.O. Box 834070
Richardson, Texas 75083

I'm not sure what is going to happen from here. Only time will tell.

Same problem here, I will read all of this post when I get home tonight....I somehow missed it.

I originally thought that maybe they cut the white plastic coating off of the car with a knife....but I guess I was wrong.
