1/2" marine plywood is 35$ for a sheet
my 8" splitter that covers to the back of radiator cost a total of 175$ to build including hardware, radiator brackets form DevSports and 4 turn buckles

This is becoming a great thread!
This the $110 Dev Sport brackets, they seem impressive.:
They also have an ABS splitter for $130, or about $240 with the brackets. Front supports are an additional $25. However, it looks like many will want a larger splitter:
The Alumalite is used in sign making. I read about it on a BMW forum. I've seen 4x8 6mm sheets online for $125. However, that firm is in Utah and the shipping could be expensive. A sign company in Wisconsin sells full color 1 side signs for $250 in 4x8. Alumalite is a corrugated plastic core between 2-sheets of aluminum.
The ABS used by Dev Sport is even less expensive. With plywood a smooth sheet for cabinet work could be purchased. About $32 had Home Depot.
The splitter is a 6' x 2'-3' flat surface over another flat surface 2"-4" away. Those bolt heads are a big disturbance. There are socket head bolts with a tapered head for flush mount and with a button head available in addition to rivets. The bottom surface could have inexpensive aluminum sheet adhesively bonded it to it, which may also reduce or eliminate the need for those thick washers. The space between to splitter and the ground is like this, it is a narrow channel and any disturbance to the flow can't be a good thing:
While on splitters, there seems to also a be a question about whether they should be flat and their length. The 'flat' issue is that the amount of downforce is a function of the distance to the ground which changes and if too small the channel can stall. I'm still reading but I read the term anhedral (wings whose tips are down, which in our case would be up. I've also seen splitters with the center section slightly higher. The issue is to limit porpoising and maintain more even downforce as the car dives under braking and rolls in turning.
