Default My head is very close to the roll bar

I have a RSG double diagonal, Sparco Evo II with PCI non slider mount. Using stock seat belts. I am 6'2" 205lbs so I have the seat pushed about as far back as I can go.

My my concern is the close proximity of my head to the roll bar. I have about an inch without helmet and with helmet it's about a half inch. I plan on adding foam to the roll bar.

How far should I be from the roll bar?

here are some pics...

Which front and rear vertical slots are you using to get that angle? Also, which way are the vertical slots facing? Is the 45 degree angle side facing the front of the car like this?

Also, the pics with all the seat foam inside?

2 inches is the standard for lemons. Not that your car belongs in a lemonss race. Thats the only spec i know for sure. It is one of the jobs of the seat to be the rear impact point of contact for your head. I would say your setup makes too many compromizes for your height. I would start by looking for a steering wheel that gives you enough leg room to move the seat forward.

you cant do that. In this car the wheel is already very close to the dash. In particular the "brow" above the tach. Now if your ready to remove the dash......

Smaller diameter wheel gives more leg clearance. OEM is 355MM i think. I have a 330MM and have more more room.

right. Maybe I misunderstood. Smaller wheel yes, I am thinking about changing the wheel "dish" as in shortening the column. I have already experienced that the s2000 needs a certain amount of steering wheel dish whether it's the the steering wheel itself or a spacer to clear the brow of the tach. If you try to mount the flat "0 dish" wheel to the column with no spacer it doesn't work out.

Your seat is at the lowest possible settings? You may need to tilt it forward some more (lower holes up front) in order to get your head farther away. I hate sitting upright but its safer than using the roll bar as a head rest. Definitely add HD foam either way. You can probably find some appropriate stuff on Summit Racing. Don't use pipe insulation; it's not hard enough.

You may also need to check if there are seats with taller seatbacks available. It seems like some of the aluminum seats go pretty high. You don't have a very aggressive racing seat at this point. I'm only 5'11" so it's not apples-to-apples my Sparco Ergo M is my head's contact point in all directions. I still have foam and leather on my roll bar.

Good luck!

The seat can't go any lower in the rear.

I could drill a new hole up front and change the angle. I actually had it at that angle on my first set up(but I wanted to drop the rear more so moved everything down one) and it was fine overall except in a couple situations where I would brake hard and the nose would dive(stock suspension). I will be going with ohlins 12/10 set up which will help the nose dive.
