CEL issues
Here’s a brief summary of what’s been going on. I’ve got a 2001 S2000 with 58,000 miles. Zero modifications.
Yesterday morning, CEL came on during the drive to work. Went to Autozone and got the code P1457 - Evap issue canister side.
Used a friends Ethos Pro, and the readings came up as gas cap, CVS valve, among a few others.
My question is, upon reading many threads, it’s generally accepted that P1457 is NOT a gas cap error, P1456 is. Why would these two readings be opposite? Also, if anyone has any advice on how to fix this issue, I’m all ears. Thank you

use a vac pump to illuminate a leak in the emission line

It's my impression it's nearly ALWAYS the gas cap. 
Honda went so far that on the late cars an error message "Check Fuel Cap" scrolls across the dash display.

Check Fuel Cap Indicator
If your fuel fill cap is loose or
missing, a ‘‘CHECK FUEL CAP’’
message appears on the information
display after you start the engine.
The message goes from CHECK to
FUEL, then to CAP repeatedly. You
will also hear a beep.
Turn the engine off, and confirm the
fuel fill cap is installed. If it is, loosen
the cap, then retighten it until it
clicks at least once. When you
restart the engine, the message
appears again. To clear the message,
press and hold the RESET button
until the odometer display returns.
If the system still detects a loose or
missing fuel fill cap, the malfunction
indicator lamp (MIL) comes on.
Turn the engine off, and check or
retighten the fuel fill cap until it
clicks at least once. The MIL goes
out after several days of normal
driving once the cap is tightened or
replaced. If it does not go out, have
your dealer inspect the vehicle. For
more information, see page 183 .

Ok, so its not necessarily the cap itself. There is a TSB or something about the filler neck in certain ap1 model years. I had it. Had to replace the filler neck. That fixed it. Search for replace filler neck or some such thing and you will find it.
