ITB drivability opinions
Hi all
I'm considering ITBs and I'm looking to gain insight to some opinions on drivability from ITB owners? Specifically low/medium load scenarios and everyday tolerance. I daily my S2000 so its drivability is the number 1 priority.

Hey Aaron,
I'm located in Cardiff and run At Power 52mm ITB using an ME221 ecu. You are welcome to come to my workshop and have a look at cold start etc
Generally I would say my setup/drivability is very close to stock for low load driving.
Regards Sion

The ITB setup on the Speed Academy BadAsS2000 didn't show impressive power. Maybe more details in their build articles but seems needless expensive for little power. I'm getting more power at the rear wheels than this -- and on a conservative Mustang dyno. Their article may be of value to you.

Chuck, thanks for the reply but I have no interest in debating the power output possibilities or whether ITBs are worth doing - that's not the purpose of this thread. This will be a project for me as I've never done ITBs before; I like to keep busy.
If I wanted power, I would get in my Porsche.

I'm running without IACV so cold start and idle is very low and I need to press the throttle slightly or it will die.
Hot idle is pretty high, like 1400rpm.
Not really any driveability problems though, I think the clever vacuum block from Urge that I got has some credit to that.
I'm using a MAP based tune, not Alpha-N.

From my recent experience, I had a full 2.4L stroker build from Kings Performance with an ITB setup. To be honest, the "cool factor" was nice for a while and the sound was amazing, but the build never really ran right. The car was pretty finicky on cold starts and wasn't that much faster for the $$$$$ that was spent. I recently took the car to LHT Performance and they swapped in a fresh F22 and installed their supercharger kit. The car runs like a dream now with a reliable 440whp. I couldn't be happier with the current setup. If anyone is looking, I have a set of URGE ITB's for sale lol.
The problem IMO is usually the ECU of choice and the tuner. I have a close friend with Toda ITBs and an AEM infinity. His car was tuned in 1.5hrs and drives like a dream. You'd never know it had ITBs if it wasn't for the big midrange.
There are a lot of S2000's over here (across the pond) that run ITB's daily and reliably. The tune, as stated before, is a big part of it, but it's a big part of any tune. I personally love ITB's and it always laugh a bit when I see the word "power" brought up when discussing them. AlphaN has always been the go-to as far as tuning ITB's, but Urge's vacuum block does allow you to tune with the MAP. Sure, turbo's and superchargers will always get you more "power", but ITB's/S2000 on a racetrack is one of the best driving experiences out there.
