Full synthetic 10w-30 or 5w-40 300v oil?
I'm currently using 10w-30 full synthetic but I was thinking about changing it to 5w-40 300v next oil change. I don't track my s2000 but I do daily drive it, will this be a healthier option for my engine?

Yes...but for what reason?
10W30 is what the owner's manual calls for, unless you drive in very cold temps. Then its 5W40
But you can use 0W30, 5W30, 10W30, 0W40, 5W40...it will all work. None of them will be inherently better for your engine.
This engine isn't picky...and its just oil. KnowwhatImean?

Mother Honda says 10W-30 is spec of course. I run 5W-30 (and would run 0W-30 if I could find it in Royal Purple). The smaller-thinner W-number aids oil flow on start-up when most engine wear takes place and even 0W is technically too thick for perfect lubrication. On the high end 30 is near perfect for oil flow at operating temperature. 40 won't hurt but makes no sense in cold weather so my assumption (guess) is Honda specified 5W-40 just to get the 5W part as few other 5W oils were available 25 years ago -- yep, we're driving old cars.

Thank goodness we finally have a meat and potatoes discussion on the best oil to use!
Chuck S loves Royal Purple, for some mystical reason, but good old Mobil 1 is a US synthetic that is also very good. One of the best mechanics (Billman) on this site has said Mobil 1 has performed perfectly, in his experience, as a differential lubricant. I go further and use it for the engine as well in the 0W-30 that I get in the 5 quart bottle for only $28 at Walmart. I change the oil every year or 3000 miles because I like too. That goes for my other vehicles as well. No varnish and the innards of the engine look brand new.

What I've been using since I bought the thing. I change it around 5K miles.

Yeah, good maintenance habits are more important than trying to figure out "the best" oil for general use.
I like a yearly OR 3K mile oil change on my S2000.
