Default Engine knocking after Sunday cruise - Help!

Went up to the inlaws in the S this afternoon and afterwards went for a leisurely drive up some back roads on the way home. Felt like it hesitated a couple times from stop sign but hadn’t driven it in a couple weeks. Pulling into garage and hear this knocking. Back it out and shut it off then didn’t want to start at first. Links below of video

Any thoughts or advice on this? @Pinky @Billman250

yeah that’s what I figure and looking for direction. In S2000 group on Facebook and a post I’ve seen on here I see
Billman and a few others have managed to save several motors by dropping pan and skillfully hand polishing crank, then replacing bearings.
The viability of this method all comes down to how bad the crank journals are, which would typically relate to how much, and how hard, engine was run once issue first started.

would like to find someone locally that might be able to work on it (Winston Salem, NC).

Think about running your used oil in an analysis. To check for specific metal wear.

What was the cause? Just ran low on oil?

oil was off the full mark but still near the top. The more I keep looking into this I’m wondering if it was thrust bearing but really just speculating at this point. Trying to find someone locally who “speaks S2000” to see if I can get them to look at it.

If you can't find a local expert, The Expert is just up I95 on Long Island. Maybe 550 miles and 10 hours towing a car trailer (still $100/day?). Plus you get to pull that trailer thru DC and NYC as exciting, albeit in a different way as the Dragon.

Believe me, I'm calculating that into my options. My wife is going to think I'm crazy but might need to be done.

Ironically he was down here at TOTD this past weekend with our group. We ended up not attending due to other things going on this month - but I hated I missed the opportunity to pick his brain. Of course who knows if my car would've made the trip out there.

So looking at UHaul to see what a trailer would run. For the distance I'm using it for and drop off up there, it's going to be over $400.00 already plus the fuel and the entire day up and entire day back. Might be better to get a shipping service.

Well, if you want to have it fixed correctly, it's probably worth the cost and hassle.
