Changing out my engine, what is this attached to the ECM?
So I’m changing out my engine, and I’m pulling out the wiring harness and I see this module piggy backed to my ECM, does anyone have any idea what it is?
If you flip over that flat thing under the hood, does it say Izze on it? It looks like an Izze Air Pump simulator for an air pump delete on an AP1. With a messy as hell wiring installation. Same wire colors and everything so I am assuming that is what it is. It suppresses the CELs from removing the stock air pump system. That system has a big plastic box in front of the motor on the crossmember, a pump down there and a few other components. If yours is missing that is what that is for. I would just clean up the install a bit and keep it. The air pump system was an emissions thing that many remove for weight reduction.

The flat thing under the hood is what was piggy backed to the ECM after I pulled the engine wiring harness thru the firewall. I have heard about air pump deletes on S2K but wasn't aware it was an AP1 thing only. Will check to see if the air pump was deleted on my car. Thanks.

Yep that part of it goes under the dash. I was just referring to under the hood because that was where you had it laying in the pic. I am pretty sure that is what it is. As someone else mentioned the AP2 did not have the secondary air pump in the system, so it was just an AP1 thing.
You may also see a block off plate rear of the fuel rail that is also part of the delete. I think some leave that valve and just block off the lines, but if it was completely removed it will have a block off plate, so if you see that it is another clue that is what you are looking at. Izze makes a fancy one with their logo on it or it could be just a plain looking plate like in this picture I stole from the web

I took a quick peek under the fender and it looks like the OEM air pump is still there, same with the intake, the valve is still there. I'll just leave that module connected like it was. I think today I start putting back in the engine/transmission.
It may be possible that the air pump system failed and someone put in the sim but did not remove all the components... which is kind of odd. You could also just disconnect it and see what happens
The air pump should run after a cold start. Car will start and you will hear it whirring for a bit and then cut off. So something else you can listen for.
