The past few days (maybe longer?), on occasion the site has been slow to load or not loading at all for awhile (Page Not Found or Identification Failed messages). I just now got in again after not being able to for a couple of hours (since about 7 am EDT). Server issues???

Almost everybody I know has not been able to pull up the sight every morning for the past 5-days straight.

I would say, it is safe to say, thereis indeed a problem, and it is more than just needing a cookie cleaning.

The site has been a problem since whatever was done this past weekend.. it is NOT a "cookie" issue (problem exists simultaneously using multiple computers... PCs and Macs... with multiple operating systems and different browsers).

There is a problem as everyone has noticed for about the past week.

Each day at 4AM PDT the web server processes hang (zombify) and the web sserver stops serving pages. This problem is not self correcting. I've had to restart the web server every morning when I get up which happens at between 5AM and 6AM PDT. Hence this is why the site is broken for about 2 hours each morning (here) and each early afternoon in Europe.

This is the time when the daily maintenance scripts run on the server, rotating log files and doing to sorts of tasks. Something related to those tasks is causing the web server processes to seize and I haven't narrowed it down to exactly what it is yet. I've run those tasks manually but the problem doesn't happen.

Each day I make some changes, preventing some parts of the daily scripts from running to narrow it down to a single point of failure. So far I haven't isolated it. I should have it nailed down in a the next couple of days (there isn't much left to remove) and will fix it.

This may be a problem for another day or two but should be resolved there after. Sorry for the problem and thanks for being patient.

Ok, I've found the source of the problem so hopefully this will be a problem of the past.

^ This appears to be corrected. I also noticed this morning that I got the new email notification at the top of the page.

when I use the fast reply function in any thread and then submit it, I get the "this page cannot be displayed" screen where the usual click here to view your post screen is displayed.
