Default Avatar Problem

Okay I feel like switching avatars. Last time I uploaded a pic in my gallery, clicked avatar and it made it my avatar. This time I tried the same thing but it doesn't show up. Instead it squishes up my old avatar and makes it look funny. I then logged out, went to mys2k settings removed the avatar, and tried the process all over again with the same results. Then I removed it again and tried to add an avatar through the mys2k settings with a .jpg file on my computer. I get the statement "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

You are not allowed to upload that type of file as an avatar or personal photo "

WTF is going on? I think I've exhausted all combinations to make this work.

I have the same problem. Usually I set the avatar via the gallery option and in a few days it becomes normal.
