Default Better way to refine searches?

Maybe im just dumb, but i cant find any way to refine my searches. Is there a way to find 'threads started by XXXX user", or anyway to refine searches under someones name, but in a certain sub-forum?

Im used to many other message forums, and all of them seem to have an easier way to search. Am i missing something here?

Yea that search function here kinda sucks for pinpointing anything. Its more of a "google" type search with some key words popping up some threads from many years ago. I guess if the search could be limited to threads in the last year it would be helpful.

yeah, whenever im new to a board i try to search for all my answers instead of just making a new thread for every question. but with this board, it seems to be very hard to do so

You can at least refine your searches by sub-forum. Instead of using the search bar at the top, go to the forum you feel will most likely contain your answer. Then do to the very bottom of the page. On the right side you shoudls see a "Search this forum:" box.

Otherwise, yeah, quite lacking.

If search results could be ordered by date decending that would be nice to.
Kinda sucks seeing 50 threads from 2001.
