Wanted to open a chat this evening but was not able to. Got the following error message:

Please login. Password is optional on some systems.
Connecting To Server...
Error Connecting. Please try again.

Some other members were able to get in, create a chat, and post. Not sure what is different about me. I created/participated in a chat about a week ago, so what has changed? Help?

I'm in there now. Not sure what the problem is. Click "Chat" on the main navigation menu at the top.

 

Got java error message "ClassFormatError: Client (bad magic number)."

Edit - I opened this from my office, not home. Not sure if that makes a difference. Chaz mentioned the counter wasn't working last night, but I've seen it working in the past few days.

 

Ok. Chat is somewhat questionable. The counter works sometimes but I think there is some limited number of times we can check it before out "quota" runs out. If it starts working again at the beginning of next month then we'll know that's what it is.

The problem from work may be your firewall. The chat doesn't operate over http (web) and uses a different port. That may be blocked or filtered by your IT dept in a foolish attempt to prevent people from slacking. It may also be blocked as a defense against spreading worms or viruses which can use unusual ports to "contact the mother ship".

You may not be able to use chat from work.
