Default classifieds section...

Ive been on this site for a little while now and something that has always bothered me is, in order to sell an item you need to be a member. dont get me wrong im not cheap and i dont really care about the $ it costs, for the mostpart its the principle that theirs more than likely alot of people out there that want to sell an item but dont feel its worth donating to sell their item.

the reasons i can see where MAKING someone be a member benifits the section:

1: Spamming/Scamming is reduced 100% because noone is willing to pay the money to scam someone, and if someone is scammed the site has most of their info (gotta send that card somewhere)
2: Money for the site

albeit the first one is one of the biggest problems i see in forums (myself being a member of over.. 50 forums) BUT forcing someone to pay to sell an item seems a bit like ebay, and alot of times u dont see things on ebay because the person doesnt feel its worth all the hassle and ends up the kid next door gets some volks MADD cheap because the seller is lazy. and everyone misses out.

by making the forsale free to all, it would make the items available for purchase increase hence making more people happy(people finding what they want easier, more products avail)

problems with the free would of course be scammers, so you enstill a post minimum to post in the FS section to eliminate all of the scammers/spammers. someone with enough time and dedication to post 200 posts or w/e to scam another member is obviously got a screw loose. no real scammer would see a benifit in this where they can just scam somewhere else quicker.. easier

Also to add benefits to those who sell alot, add a "feedback" to each person.

where you can post a link of the item and each seller and buyer fill out a form, insert link, pos/neg and goes on record. this would make someone feel more confident in a long time seller rather than a guy who just put something up and noone knows him.

the site that i was with from the start that has a great setup on the feedback( www.7thgencivic.com) although they do not have a post minimum and their forum is very vauge as is ours.

i mean, i dont know where the money is going.. but the site seems to have a large amt of advertising, and most of the little costs needed to make events happen are funded by the people in that area.. numerous vendors on here and i know they pay a premium because i was considering it once but still.. are we in that much need of money as a site?

so that covers the question of costs and membership and rules, but along with that to make the buyer find his needed item faster (to create more sales, that in turn create more posts, that create happier members) divide the forsale items up into different categories (i.e. www.e46fanatics.com) maybe even more categories.. theirs nothing better than someone looking for wheels and they see wheels! the problem with this is the same person might have to post 3-4 posts to cover all their items but the items will sell faster indivually, because the buyers can find them faster.

all in all i hopefully covered all the items i wished to speak about,

my only questions are, when is the classifieds section going into effect and more importantly what is the difference..

ive seen previous threads but everything seems very vauge, as if the creator doesnt know either.

The forums are not JUST a For sale section, membership gives far more benefits than just allowing to post items for sale.

The money goes to cthree to run the site, he does it full time, it IS his job and his livelyhood.

There is also an aspect of security - anyone who has paid a membership, has their details on paypal and registerd with s2ki, so in the case of a scam (scams drastically reduced since this rule came in) then s2ki is in more of a position to offer help.

There is no vagueness whatsoever. The rules are clear.

If you're not cheap, like you say, then feel free to contribute for what you have gained from the site by purchasing a membership.

You've got a very firm grasp of the situation. You make choices in life bases on what's important to you and I've made the choice to require membership to sell things so that scams are reduced. That's more important to me than the volume of ads posted.

Ian is correct, the memberships are for more than just posting items for sale. That's a benefit but not the reason for it.

Yes, that's something I've been working on but it's taking a long time to get to the point where it's ready to release.
