Default Community organizers require full personal info

Is it standard practice on S2ki for the community organizers to require full info including:
full name
email address(not s2ki email address)
home phone
cell phone
ADDRESS

Is all of that necessary to post in a stickied FS/WTB thread in the regional sections?

This caught my attention when I was pm'd by a community organizer requiring me to provide the following to be allowed to post in there, I was shocked because S2000 theft has been running in full speed around oregon.

I posted in the regional section asking if others have been required to provide the following information but all thats been posted so far are 5 vouches for the legitness or the "community organizer" and then 1 person saying they would provide all info but their address so their post was deleted in the FS/WTB thread, so it would appear that only non "regulars to the club" are required to provide this personal information for what would be a face to face local cash transaction.

Mentioning all of the S2000 theft i should also mention that none of my parts are oem S2000 parts, only expensive "rare" seats and volks.

Anyways, any input would be appreciated, even if theft from the Community organizer isnt a concern there are a million other concerns including theft of their computer with all of this info and the abrubt violation of privacy that has to be allowed. The information isnt even transferd to them from S2ki which I have paid a membership for which is why this does seem kind of fishy.

I don't see nothing wrong with it. CO's can choose how to moderate there communities. I think this should be a more common, to stop the rampant theft on this forum.

It isn't that the the "regulars of the club" aren't required to provide it, it is the simple fact that they already have provided the information at one point or another. Either when they first join as a new S owner (we PM them as soon as a new S owner posts saying hello) or they gave it to us when they came to their first event.

Both Oregon COs have told you that at least 3 times already.

You just don't seem to want to accept it.

I would not accept this in any way. By providing your address you are inviting theives, not only from the S2KI community, but any lurkers to come to your house and take whatever they want. This should not be allowed, period!!!!

Except the COs *in theory* should keep it private and only have it for mediation purposes for their own use to try and help with a sale gone south...at least that's our concept for it.

We dont give out any information. it's kept in a roster of members that only we have access to. Unless the COs are theives (which questions why they are COs) I cant really see the issue.

The CO is the only one who would have the info. How would that invite thieves. Rather lame excuse.

so is it safe to say that one of you COs would actually intervene and resolve the problem if a sale goes wrong. really? and how do you actually validate the information?
i have always thought the take on the board was buyer beware and that s2ki and the regional sections would not take action if something went wrong

Furthermore with local sales - i don't see why someone would need your personal information - most regional sales are handled face to face – pay cash and get the part

but to request personal infomation from a member who's been here two plus years seems a little invasive - sure i could see questioning someone who's been on the board a week or two BUT not two plus years as in the case of fullracehonda

fullracehonda - most COs are given full anatomy to run their sections how they see fit - so if they make up this rule or any rule for that matter - they have ownership and it's stays BUT in fairness to their "community" they should poll the members and get a general consensus .

BUT because you're member you can post your items in the for sale section without those requirements

I guess the bigger question for the local COs is why there is this "rampant theft"

A bit excessive of the CO's IMHO, but, their regional forum rules do trump the site rules.

Post your for sale stuff outside of your local / regional forum. Fug 'em.

Better yet, Bass for the Oregon S2000 Owners Community Organizer!!
