This is not intended to be a flame.
If you "subscribe" to any thread that you are interested, you will always know by email notification when there is a new reply to those threads. The link in the email will also take you directly to that reply (more or less). You do not have to actually post anything in those threads, just click on "add to my S2000" located at the bottom of each page of each thread. You can also subscribe to a complete forum if you like and when you click on "MyS2000" on startup, you'll see all new activity for the day there.
Of course, you need to be certain that you have activated your email notification.

That is true, but I tend to have the forum running in the background all day, so I read the new posts as they arrive rather than come in read a whole load of posts and subscribe to the ones I want. I suppose it is one of those things whch comes under the guise of personal preference.

I am happy to get an email in response to postings I have made, but sometimes I just like to follow a thread without subscribing to it
