Default Excessive bumping in For-Sale classified threads!

I thought it was a legitimate issue with people who are selling items in the classifieds who will continually bump their items every single day, three times a day! It's unfair and annoying to other members who are trying to sell items as well. Then we have the people who create a thread for EACH item that they're selling, INSTEAD of putting it in one single thread. Is there ANYTHING the moderators can do to control this issue? People feel as if they have to bump their thread over and over and over just to see if people are interested. If someone really wanted to buy your items, you WOULDNT HAVE TO BUMP IT 3 times a day!

I mod the FS forums, while bumping may be excessive, the Sellers soon loses interest in trying to sell their OEM Header for $100 and the thread falls into oblivion soon enough.

If they were smart, they would bump it and delete the bump ahead of it so as not to look so eager to sell their items.

As far as 1 item per thread, good luck, it can be a lot of work just keeping the "bigger picture" in focus.

When we need a third Mod or a replacement Mod in FS we'll keep you in mind.

Yes definitely do, I only say this because I was and still am a member of the Supraforums (from owning 2 MKIVs), and although I know that they are a completely different entity, it worked for them. Just telling how I see it, not trying to compare.

There was the same issue on that forum with members whoring out their products and cluttering up the threads. Once they instated some rules for "bumping" and multiple posting, it made it a better "shopping" experience for everyone. It gives EVERYONE a fair chance to sell their items. Not a bunch of vultures trying to push their stuff on peoples lap.

#10 of the site rules does state bumping is not recommended.

the problem is most people care not to read the rules and then bitch about how they were so hard done by.

Quite honestly, I was thinking of a rule that if you bump your own FS thread more than once a day you would get temp ban (1 week or something)

However, I never brought it up because I don't want to have the image of a FS Forum Nazi

It does get quite annoying because I remember bumping my own FS thread about a week ago and less than an hour later it fell to the second page

I specifically list in the rules for the Bay Area For Sale forum that thread bumps are limited to one per day, but I also have a much smaller herd to tend to.

If you made a motion to implement that rule, I would second it.

This is also someshing I would vote to become mandatory. However, I would consider it more as common sense rather than just smart. It saves potential buyers from having to scroll thru a bazillion bump posts.
