Default Feature Request

JMP, sorry man, I'm going to hijack your post

Just so we keep this all straight and manageable here is a summary of the feature requests thus far. They aren't in any particular order, just as I recount them:

- Online/Offline indicator in each post to show if the poster is online or offline. * This feature is available in the next release of the forums software which is in RC state. If it's not too much overhead then it will come with our upgrade to that version in a couple months.

- Visible buddy list. * This will go in the "Assistant" window. You can leave it open or click the link when you want to know.

- Start Button. * gone, obsolete.

- WAP. * never going to happen however a PDA sized "lite" skin is in the works once some of the dust settles. This skin will have reduced/summarized content, few whistles, fewer bells but will neatly fit on a 240x320 low res screen.

- Forum Index on every page. * Nope.

- Year color, etc under avatar. * Yes, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The whole "owner" thing is going to change a bit from what it was before.

- spell check * Complete! *

- Sponsor link * Yes, as soon as I get the ads back up.

- the lurking option is still there. Check the login page.

- visited link color. * can do.

- link album names to view option. * obvious missing function

There is more, I'll keep adding to this list and updating status as we go along.

....Telling us if a person who's posted on the thread is online or not?

Will it make a return or not?

EDIT i.e. the lightbulb for those wondering what I'm going on about.

OK just a request to have the sponsers link at the bottom every page like V3.....really nice when I'm reading a thread and see a reference to a sponser and want to go visit their webpages. Just click on the sponsers link, go to the sponsers page and select the appropriate webpage.

I'm sure you have tons of other things to fix, but just wanted to log the request for the future....low priority item

With all the activity, we are trying to keep things in order by merging like threads etc. I am going to use this thread for all feature requests. Please all try and take note if you request or requirement has been asked previously.

I would like to request bringing back 1) the old "buddy" button on all user's posts (so you can quickly add to your buddy list), and 2) the city/state/model year/color info under the avatars. Thx.

hey cthree, krazik--

several months back I had posted a thread wherein I suggested implementing a "block" button that allows a poster to block another user from seeing the content of his posts (I go into details in that thread).

I hope this can be implemented in this new version, so that people who post top-quality information (such as XV, UL, RR, etc.) can block their posts from being read by complete asshats who post sophomoric b.s., argue things based on no knowledge of their own, and generally discourage posters of valuable information from continuing to do so.

Is it possible to turn off the super annoying "feature" that changes the capitalization in topic names? Some words should be in all or mixed caps, like S2K, my nick: VoIPA, DVD, etc.

For example, I posted a new topic with the word NOW capped for emphasis, and it had !!! at the end. When posted, NOW became Now and it deleted my multiple !s.

Thanks for all the hard work!

If I put you on ignore, I won't beable to see your posts. So, what you are after is allowing the thread poster to ignore the bad eggs so they can not see or contribute to valuable threads. I am just talking out loud here, trying to understand your point. Am I close?

Or should I go get a coffee. How about we merge this request with the feature request thread?

not sure if you're able to do a search (krazik has it disabled), but my previous post goes into details. it's sort of like a reverse-Ignore. that thread has all the details, and it seemed to be a well-received idea.

and get some coffee.
