Re-post - see the moved thread lower down the main UK forum.

(FWIW, your passports say you're British, not English, Scottish or whatever else. Anyway, the system has been done by Yanks - they think we're all the same anyway! )

[QUOTE=AquilaEagle,Sep 28 2004, 11:36 AM]The purpose of that field in the database, forgetting if it is a flag for now, is to show someone's location, which is useful - especially for seeing how many people are in the UK etc,

The flag is for country of residence not nationality. We don't ask your nationality because someone would complain about that being too personal. I'm Canadian, always have been, always will be, but I reside in California. I don't fly an American flag on my house and if I were to fly any flag it would be a Canadian flag. However, as you can see, there is an American flag over there <--- I live in the USA thus that's my country of residence and its where I am. We can show a flag which is immediately symbolic or we can show the country code US which is less immediately obvious.

Also we are an international community and the flags add an international colour to the place and make it more clearly appearant that we are international in nature and flavour.

Especially when everyone changes their location, cos it is fun to have different flags.

So my point is a valid one.

I am English
I was born in England
I live in England, not scotland, wales or ireland
Will probably die in England

I had to choose UK as it would not let me type in England.

I always fill in forms with England when asked about nationality.

So can we have this rectified please with the following

You've never been asked about NATIONALITY simmo. You've been asked about your location.
