Here is a quiz: How much bandwidth in MB/hr does s2ki.com use on a typical Sunday afternoon? Here's a hint: Sunday is about average, Monday is the busiest day and traffic gradually tapers off each following day. Saturday is the slowest day.

I've just installed a new web stats package and processed yesterdays logs from 13:00 - 03:00 Sun/Mon. I have the numbers, can you guess what they are?

Need another hint? Here are the stats for the last hour and a half:

Server uptime: 1 hour 30 minutes
Total accesses: 191514 - Total Traffic: 948.9 MB

ok

The answer is more than 400 megabytes/hour. We see between 1 and 3 million hits/day right now.

Not a $100/yr operation

Dang, that's close to my estimate of 300GB/month in that s2kca thread, assuming that Sunday is a good indicator of the average. I thought it would be more due to the ever increasing use of graphics on this site, but guess not. Maybe you guys should start streaming movies (1TB/month, mmmm...)

Wazzat...about 10 GB a day?

Not too shabby for a message board operation. I'm burning about 2 TB a month currently

I'm no techie - but, I think that the agreement the S2KCA has for server space has unmetered bandwidth.

That is a $100/yr. operation.

Yeah, and it shows j/k It looks like you guys have shared hosting at Nexpoint (http://www.nexpoint.net). Sure it's unmetered, but then again, you guys have low traffic. The load on s2ki.com would probably break the cobalt raq servers

S2ki out grew a cobalt raq server over 1 year ago.

Currently we are on a 2 boxes.. A Dual P3-866 webserver w/ 2G RAM (load average 1.5-2.0) and a Dual 450 DB server w/ 1G RAM (LA .4.-8)

And bandwidth is free/cheap when you don't make much traffic. But rest assured if you ever actually make any real traffic out of that box they'll come a knocking. for $. Bandwidth is what actually costs.

Currently S2KI sustains between 1.5-3 megabit/second.
