The old vb code for posting a new thread used to have a pulldown menu for insertion of pictures. That's gone and now we have to bring a (slooooooow) thumbnail popup in order to easily insert pictures. I name my pictures so that I remember what they are, so I dont' really need to see the thumbnail image. Is it possible to get the pulldown list back, possibly in addition to the thumbnail setup?

Yes its perfectly possible. But it might be a little while till we can update the code.

Consider using folders to keep the list sizes down.
