I'm down! I surf the forums on my iPhone as it already is. It takes a second or 2 or....60 to load everything, but its worth it.

I'd rather just have a 'lite' skin to the forum, if possible, for all mobile devices

I think it can be fairly easily done, perhaps even just in the admin CP, is that right c3? I don't mind having a go myself if that is the case, and not making it available until it's OK.

(Admittedly, a 7% share in a year in impressive, but I don't see it getting much bigger, especially with Apple locking down the activation process on the iPhone 2.0)
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/06..._iphone_3g.html

In a sign of "unprecedented pent-up demand" for the upcoming iPhone 3G, investment bank RBC Capital Markets says its own proprietary study has revealed that more than half of consumers who are in the market for a smartphone intend to purchase one of the new Apple handsets after its launch on July 11th.

Ok It's kinda sad I know, but I was watching the apple keynote speech from the WWDC the other night, and I think they've really got it right now with the V2.0 S/Ware, the SDK and APPs Store, and the 3G and GPS.
It's making the iPhone the whole package. Business will soon be choosing it over the billberry, I'm sure of that.

It isn't quite that easy and it's completely redundant. As I'm in the process of replacing all that code and markup.

There is a new skin in the works, the new style header is just the first installment. The new "desktop" skin will "unfold" to a full featured page layout but can be folded down to a "lite" version. You'll be able to hide the stuff you never use and use the things you rarely use as you need them rather than have everything always visible all the time as it is now.

The new skin is a lot more compact but more importantly it doesn't send you stuff you don't want reducing bandwidth consumption but also making the pages load faster as you collapse features. You'll be able to customize some colors and some of the layout to make it work best for you and then save these preferences with a name and even default preferences to a specific (type of) browser.

So, at work where you have lots of bandwidth and bright lights but a strict intolerance for NSFW images you could have a feature rich layout with light colors and turn off signature and avatar display. On your notebook at home you could trim features making the display requirements smaller and use vibrant darker colors to make them more easily visible outdoors. On your phone you could have the smallest of layouts without any images, avatars or signatures.

This isn't something you can do by just editing HTML snippets and templates. The code needs to be changed to support it all, almost entirely changed which is what I'm doing. You can't see it because I can't release it piece-meal. It has to at least do everything the site does now and right now I'm not quite to that point.

Will I be able to cookie my different browsers, so it knows that I want one setting for work, a different one on my home PC and yet a third for mobile?

Or would I have to change those settings each time I change browsers?
