So all that the "membership pack" contains is a card? Calling it "membership card" is more fitting and causes less confusion I would think. When I first heard of a "membership pack", I was assuming license plate frames, window decals, tshirt, mug, etc. LOL

I'd be happy to see less downtime.

Not only haven't I received a membership pack, but I never received an email saying that my membership was ending on xmas eve. All info is correct and here is at least my second year being a member with no membership pack. I don't think the point that it is just a little card or whatever, it's the principal of it all.
Still nothing...

My information has always been correct...

Currently the "membership package" contains a membership card and a thank you letter. It's called a pack because it's contents might change and calling it a pack is somewhere less specific. All that stuff you mention costs money. If you want those things then it would cost $20 just in merchandise somewhat negating the whole point of membership; to contribute to the operation of the site and the community.

We can't sell merchandise for a number of reasons. First Honda would have a stroke. They aren't so picky about the site but anything merchandise related would immediately trigger a cease and desist letter from their legal department. We tread a fine line with them. They don't bother us, we don't bother them. We can't offer calendars, mugs, shirts, hats, keychains, posters or anything else that says S2000, Honda or features a likeness or photograph of the car. The only way we could do that is to have a license agreement with AHM which will be ready "in three weeks" and it's been that way for 3 years...hmm lemme call to see where that deal is...yup, ready in three weeks

Second, it requires a significant investment in inventory and regardless of what color I picked somebody would want lime green or hot pink and have a fit if they couldn't get it, calling me all sorts of nasty things in the process. It's easier not to bother.

Third, I don't have time to send out merchandise. I don't really have a lot of time to send out membership cards either. It takes about 4 hours, a half day each week to just send 100 of them. I can't see selling merchandise I can't possibly ship helping matters.

If you want to buy $10 worth of merchandise for $20 that's one thing but it's not really what memberships are all about. They are about giving me the time to keep the systems running efficiently and reliably and supporting the local communities through programs and sponsorships which make the S2000 community as active and vibrant as it is. All that takes a whole lot of time, money and expense and that's what memberships support.

I appreciate the massive amount of support people have shown and it makes a massive difference in our ability to do what we do without being under constant pressure. That success however has led to a few problems like having to produce and send more membership kits than time allows. I was never really expecting to have to deal with as many as it turns out we need to. I planned to do 500 per year and at that level I could have managed it better than currently. Turns out it's 4x that many.

So look at it this way, it takes 4 hours a week to do the week's member kits. I put it off a week and now I'm 4 hours behind. We have some server crisis and it gets put off another week and now it's a day and a half and so on. I'm 6 days behind right now. That means I need to spend a solid week printing and packing membership cards to catch up which doesn't include the cards for that week so it's actually 6.5 days. Right now all the cards expiring from Jan to May 05 should have gone out. Also all those expiring Oct to xmas have gone out. That leaves June-Sep and those since about Jan 4th that have yet to be sent out, about 600 cards in total.

I am trying to print and send all of the new cards plus that many less 100 or 150 of the older ones each Tuesday morning. the number varies depending on how many distractions or problems I run into but it's usually 100 minimum but never more than about 150 in a good week just based on the amount of time it takes to print, fold, label and stuff 150 envelopes.

If you haven't got your card/kit yet I'm truly sorry for the delay. Getting v4 of the site up last year set me back months and there is nobody else but me to do them. I'd love to send more out to you but all of the membership funds get used up. The more the kits cost the less money there is available for what the funds were meant for in the first place. There is no extra to speak of. I'm trying to get s2ki t-shirts and hats made "sans honda trademarks" for sale but there is nobody here to ship them out and it costs $3600 for 500 shirts and 50 hats which I never seem to have just laying around. I think the less I promise at this point the better. Someday I hope to afford an assistant who can look after these things but the money just isn't there right now.

That's where it is, where it's been for some time and where it will be for some time to come unfortunately. Cards are going out steadily and some can attest but it's far from current.
