C3,

Please analyze this thread:

http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=5369

I believe the moderator of the "under the hood" section has abused his powers in removing one of my posts for no good reason. I have contributed extensively to this newsgroup and consider that editing me out is not proper recognition of this fact. I am happy to leave if you guys think I do not contribute to the general quality of the group.

Based on his actions, I do not think the moderator of "Under the Hood" should have moderator status. We want moderators that are balanced, that allow a certain degree of discussion, without over reacting. If a moderator thinks something is out of line he should say so without resorting to cutting out members of good standing. He is certainly not such a moderator.

I have not kept a copy of my original post, but I can try to recreate it if you want. It basically said, in a short and ironic version, the same thing that it is below (and that I reposted):

LOL, I think we've all seen the soup Nazi phenomenon before.
Usually happens when a second or third shift lead (janitorial staff) tries to think for himself. Some people can't help it (something with their childhood I'm sure).

I suggest you work it out with those involved. I have nothing to offer that would remedy your situation. If you are unwilling to resolve your differences, then I suggest you avoid interacting.

cthree, I'm sorry that this has had to come to you. The post that I deleted essentially called others on this board "morons". I do not remember the specifics of the post, but when people on the board are called morons, I will not hesitate to delete such a post. I make no apologies and stand by my decision. If you feel this is not in the interests of this board, please let me know and I will not step in when people start flames in the future.

Luis, I know you think this was personal. While I have disagreed with some of your opinions on tech matters, I agree that you are an important part of the board and I would not like to alienate you from it. I ask only that you exercise more tolerance of others and refrain from insulting others on the board - even if you feel they are ignorant.

I think the ability to be a good moderator is very different than being a technical expert. I don't think it is the job of the moderator to correct poster's technical errors. When they do, it tends to look arbitrary and an abuse of power. I respect The Reverend's technical expertise. Sometimes, you have to call a stupid idea a stupid idea, but censor only when someone is called stupid. There is a BIG difference.
