v4 is an opportunity to step back and look at what we have. The growth this site and community has experienced in the past 2-3 years I don't think anyone predicted. Things have grown to such an extent that the site really requires a good deal of foresight to plan.

To put that in concrete terms, in August 03 we served 9.1 million pages to 122 thousand visitors. That was huge! Six months later in February 04 we served 22.5 million pages to 228 thousand visitors. In effect we have doubled in size in just the past 6 months. I though the growth might be slowing this past September but what did I know? We expect the site to double in size in the next six months as well and are trying to plan for it.

Cthree,

Will the V4 offer some kind of personal BBoard, where we can save links to threads, information and what not?

Hmm, not initially just it's a possibility for the future. v4 will be much as v3 is but more refined. Many newer features won't come until later down the road.

Some of the features in the new version of vBulletin are awesome. Been running the new version at Club RSX for about a month now, and it's been great.

Can't wait to see the new s2ki

thank you for providing some of the upgrade details... it definitely puts me (and others i suspect) more at ease about the coming changes.

the new badging options sound like a nice improvement.

can i be optimistic that my photo gallery issues will be resolved as well? *crosses fingers*

Erik, in regards to the badges....does the member who possesses the badges get to choose what order they are in? or is it in random order?

also, I remember when changes were being made during the summer that kept us off the site for hours, or even days at a time...will that be happening in April?

Otherwise, Im glad to hear some progress will be made on the site

Sophia

Badges will continue to be displayed in seemingly random order. We can look at changing that after the initial release.

We hope the switch to the new software will be quick and painless but you can never be too sure. It is being planned to incur the least amount of downtime. However, the way thing go it might be a mess too.
