I think anyone with the software to get photos onto their computer also has the means to manipulate the same to a smaller size and lower resolution. I sure hope mine isn't jamming up anyone's download speed. After all its only 2337Bytes, (what's that?! 2K?)

Your pic is 52kb so it is not too bad but I saved it at 29kb, and every little bit helps for people who do not have dial up connections instead of cable, DSL, T1's etc...

I can e-mail it to you if you would like so you can see that there is hardly any quality loss and it is still the same image size and just a smaller file size.

If you're outta town and on a dial-up, you can try doing what I had to do, just go to your "Internet Options" selection under your Internet Explorer icon. Go to "Advanced" and un-check sounds, animations, and pictures under the Multimedia grouping.

Then when a pic sounds interesting (from a posted description), just right click the area and select "show picture"

Gee, that sure is a pretty red S2000! I wonder how long it takes to download?

I've asked for this before. I don't understand the need to have links to pictures in signatures. All the damn cars look alike anyways with few exceptions. In addition, at work sometimes it seems our DNS servers have trouble resolving all of the server names for the pics in a thread and I get stuck waiting waiting waiting until it resolves the server names or I hit Stop. But hey, we live in a selfish society. No need for anyone here to think of others.

I suppose we could just make a rule where one's first post gets a pic, the rest of the time we dont use a pic...

that would work if people are willing to take the time...

Either that, or a hyperlink to a profile pic...

Ok sounds good but...

There is a way in netscape and ie to turn off images. In ie there is an option to show images with place holders until they completely download. Using this strategy will help all those on dialup...poor bastards.

sure, turning off images helps somewhat, but it takes away from the aesthetics of the site and some of the image posts. I'd rather have an option in my preferences that say 'display images in signatures' [y/n] and let it be like that.

I'm just simply trying to bring the issue backup with lengthy (and sizey) signatures.

I should just make a really really long signature then with all my pet peeves - including all 'modifications' that have been installed and will be installed, like lets say... "Modifications: Rick's Air Bag Stickers - on order, not yet installed" - sorry, this isn't a mod, nor something that needs to be installed. But that's just me ranting.

/my two cents.
