OUT ON A LIMB AGAIN
"A place to yap and chat about everyday topics. Off-topic discussions welcome here."
Please define everyday off-topic. Seems that as long as the people in charge of this board want to talk about a topic it's OK but when they tire then we should all just stop. This seemes to be one man's board according to a reply I received. "Who is cthree? He is the Administrator, Hanging Judge, Owner, Creator of this board, Head Honcho, King, Ruler, Higher-up, Director, Leader, and Supervisor of the Troopers or Moderators... What he says concerning this board IS the final word." The political views and humor expressed by the members are another way for me to understand where the S2K owners of the WORLD are coming from. These views are no less important than the posting of a dog's picture which seemes to be OK or how may people wear beards. You play the cat and mouse game with us. When the cat tires of playing with the mouse, a swift bite to the neck of the mouse is given.
I was and still am considering the get together in N.C. but will you attempt to tell me at this board run event what I can and can't talk about? You may be the JUDGE but we the members, are the JURY. If you choose not to allow this post, I will understand. -- Thank you, Mike

Hey Mike,
Not sure what you are driving at. The board has rules, we all follow them. No politics is one of them. Are the rules arbitrary? Perhaps but the application is not. Is the board run by a dictator? Yes.
There is a balance of power. The members are free to walk away anytime they feel like it. It is my job to make it welcoming and to encourage participation. To do that I established a set of rules and published them. They are quite liberal and not too complex:
1. No politics
2. No religion
3. No abuse
They offer simple guidelines which we live by that make the board a place I like to be and fun to participate in. I personally spend between 3 and 8 hours a day maintaining and developing the site. It's work I enjoy doing because I believe in it and it is appreciated by others. The most important thing for me is that I like what the board is and has become. It makes no money and I have personally sunk in $4000 of my own money to make it work. Again it is a labor of love for me.
I don't like politics, so I don't allow them on my site. I don't like religion so I don't allow it on my site. I can't stand abuse so again I don't allow it. You have to draw a line somewhere and so I have. What's better, to allow all political views thus causing some members to feel offended or uncomfortable. To allow some political views but not others or to simply ask the membership to keep their political view to themselves. The same applies to religion, racism, sexism and the like. The board has to be a place where any S2000 enthusist or owner can come and talk about their obsession without feeling isolated, belittled or offended. We are here after all to discuss the S2000 and get to know eachother. How you vote and your religious beliefs are between you and God and should play no part in how we treat eachother. It is your right and responsibility to vote and pray without justification or scrutiny. You are a liberal, conservative, communist, anarchist, who cares. That choice is up to you by right. There are a large number of other forums for such discussions and there is no reason for it to spill over here.
Sorry for the long winded response. The membership has doubled since it last came up so I wanted to restate it for the record. My mission was and is to create a fun, informative, comfortable and reliable place where S2000 owners can come and meet and exchange information. The rules I set up are in aid of that mission and I think it has works well so far. I see no reason to change them. Like I said before, my roll is to ensure equal and consistant application of the rules as best I can.

Thank you for your responce. No religion-no politics. I guess that I missed the rules department, but your rules will be respected by me now that I know what they are. I find the post on your board healthy, informative and a lot of times humorous even though I don't always know when a jest is a jest. Perhaps a couple of steps back on my part is required. Thank You
I wanted to repeat this to you because it also applies to this post as well as the other. If I had seen a set of rules somewhere I would not have posted in the first place. I would also say that if you feel like a dictator, more power to ya.
Have a good one!

Well put, gentlemen. A mature, intelligent discussion. My compliments.
I liked to tell my kids that it was the golden rule...he who has the gold makes the rules. This site is enjoyable due to the owner and the participants' mutual respect, good looks and high level of intelligence, particularly the bankers among us.
