I'm getting HUGE popups even with a gold membership. It pops up on the sign in screen (even though I have a popup blocker). I can't even sign in without moving back a screen and before trying to post its popping up again.

It's popping up before you're signed in, that's normal, as you're seeing the site as a guest.
